“Improved teaching and learning at the university”
As part of the project “Innovative Doctoral Education for Global Food Security”, the University of Rwanda in collaboration (Rwanda) the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden), with Makerere University (Uganda) invite qualified applicants within the UR-Sweden programme for Research, Higher Education and Institutional Advancement to participate in a Workshop for improved teaching and learning at the university
This workshop will focus on helping participants improve their current courses by focusing on course design and the relationship between Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs), Teaching & Learning Activities and Assessment. Given the make-up and context of the workshop, attention will also be paid to internationalization and its implications for teaching and learning. All participants are expected to bring a current course outline with them.
Upon completion of this workshop, the participant is expected to be able to:
- Reflect about his/her role as a lecturer in their own university context
- Apply the theory of constructive alignment in the preparation of their courses, justifying choices.
- Justify choice of instructional strategy aimed at facilitating active learning in different contexts
- Integrate an internationalization perspective in the preparation of their courses
When? 17 – 19 December 2014
Where? Hotel Nobleza, Kigali, Rwanda.
Who can participate? PhD holders and PhD candidates with teaching experience, active in the UR-Sweden programme for Research, Higher Education and Institutional Advancement (all disciplinary fields)from the University of Rwanda having interest in Food security are eligible to apply to attend the workshop
Costs? The project will cover the costs for housing, and meals during the workshop.
