World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Republic of Rwanda, and the University of Rwanda organized a Public Lecture onIntroduction to the use of Intellectual Property for Technological Capacity Building.
The objective of this public lecture is to share information on the use of Intellectual Property in technological capacity building and the role of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in value addition of IP in technology transfer and economic development.
Many Universities of repute are increasing their participation in the Global Knowledge Economy, making their research outputs more impactful through innovation and entrepreneurship.
The forces of globalization are creating more opportunities which are rewarding creativity and innovation. Through the transfer of technology and knowledge important synergies arise that strengthen the innovation process and increase levels of competitiveness in universities and industries. The promotion of the innovation culture has enabled strong partnership between Academics Industry and Government, which has facilitated the transfer of technology.
Innovation and technology transfer lead to Intellectual Property (IP) which needs to be protected and developed for the benefit of the society in the promotion of Socio-economic development.
The presenters of the lecture are among the leaders in the areas of innovation and technology transfer.
We believe what they have to share is of benefit to the public of Rwanda in which the Government is encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship as a means of achieving economic transformation.
