It was also meant to help researchers to exhibit their findings and innovative products or any other outcomes to the community, stakeholders and policy makers.

In his opening remarks, Prof George Njoroge, the College’s Principal said that the University Rwanda has adopted a college model to ensure that each of the colleges comes out as a centre of excellence. As a result, the College of Education is expected to conduct research and influence policy in education and be able to come up with solutions of challenges in education right from early childhood to higher education.

“The College of Education is the foundation of whatever happens in human resource development,” He said.

Speaking during the exhibition, Prof Wenceslas Nzabalirwa exhorted participants especially those in academic field to endeavour doing research and not only consume other people’s publications. Even if academic work requires constant consultation in order to inform and update the existing practices in teaching and learning, Nzabalirwa added that it is always important to contribute to the production of research.

He went on saying that the University of Rwanda is the largest academic institution that produce knowledge for Rwanda development; thus, it should also take a lead in spearheading the development of research in the country.

The exhibition and workshop came to a conclusion that researchers at the College should firmly collaborate with local and international people so that their papers can be published in renowned journals. It was also recommended that these kind of forums should be organized on a regular basis in a bid to guide novice researchers and give them opportunities to mature in their research activities. The workshop was dubbed “Fundable Research Proposal Writing-Exhibition of Research Findings, Innovative Products and Services”.
