On 9th March 2015, College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM) launched the first ever Research Exhibition and Road Show under support of UR-Sweden Program. This Research Exhibiton and Road Shows will continue in various corners of the country until 20th March, 2015.
The theme of this Research Exhibition/Road Show is Applied Research as a driving force to Agricultural transformation.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Martin Ntawubizi who spoke on behalf of the Principal of CAVM, highlighted the mission and vision of the College and showed the relationship between this Research Exhibition/Road Show and the Mission of the College.
“The main objective of this initiative is to establish a sustainable and effective relationship between the CAVM and all its stakeholders, to stimulate the generation of applied knowledge that responds to practical needs, and promote real time channel of a fruitful transfer of technology and community engagement for agricultural transformation.”

“All Colleges have to work with local communities and government to produce knowledge based answers on problems coming from the communities and ensuring policy and practices is informed by research,” emphasized Prof. Verdiana Grace Masanja, Director of Research at University of Rwanda (UR).
She further praised the importance of this new initiative and said UR Research Exhibition is one of tools of dissemination methods to show case the research and innovation under all UR Colleges. Exhibition is a true channel to inform the public about UR research and its impact on socio-economic and well being of the Rwanda society. Due to the importance placed on Agriculture, the first UR exhibition is this one. She ended her remarks by publically declared the 1st University of Rwanda Annual Exhibition open.

The guest of honor there present was Dr. Christine Gasinzigwa, the Director of research in the Ministry of Education. In her remarks, she thanked the Management of UR to organize such event which reflects the overall global mission of any university which is Education/training, research and outreach. These research exhibitions go well with the multiple objective of our national STI policy. Said Dr. Gasinzigwa. She further continued by praising the benefit of such event. This gives us an opportunity to come/ go and see for ourselves the translation of the research outputs to real time use in service to community, first local then to the global as knowledge becomes universal, CAVM having their contribution to the world as well. The guest of honor, Dr. Christine GASINGIRWA, the Director General of Research, Science and Technology in the Ministry of Education gave her remarks on the launch of the exhibition and praised the initiative as being aligned to the overall global mission of any university, which in research and outreach.
