The University of Rwanda in collaboration with Clarivate Analytics organized a 2 days’ training on web of science resources from 30th November 2017 to 1st December 2017 at Kigali Conference &Exhibition Village (KC&EV). The training was attended by African centers of excellence PhD students, researchers, staff and UR partners. It aimed to increase visibility of UR publications at international level, to strengthen the academic capacity in research and to allow registration of UR papers at international webometry system.

Prof. Ijumba Nelson, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research during the opening remarks mentioned that the UR association with will help the university in terms of navigation in research and capacity building in that kind of research. He added that for UR staff who attended this training it will allow them to pass the knowledge they benefited not only to students but also to their colleagues. “No university can make difference if it doesn’t perform in Research and publication”. He said

Joy Owango facilitator from Clarivate Analytics said that during these two days training, participants will discuss on different solutions to the challenges mentions by PhD students themselves. It will be a good occasion to gain knowledge on how to register for research ID and get access to information from Web Science Resources.
Among the challenges faced by PhD students there are: relevant papers to their research, understanding the trend to the research, accessing the right journal, limited access to internet connectivity as well as the way of publishing.
