Staff at UR-CMHS involved in research administration and grants management had week long training on research administration and grants management. with the facilitation of Dr. Adebola Adedimeji, Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and Dr.Stefan Jansen, Research coordinator at the CMHS Directorate of Research, Innovation and Post Graduate Studies, will over a three year period seek to build research and grant administration human resource capacity building through a combination of degree granting and in-country workshops for personnel working in relevant departments and units in the University of Rwanda College of Medicine and Health Sciences and affiliate partner institutions. UR will send 2 Rwandans on a 2 year Masters in Research Administration program at the University of Central Florida in the United States and an additional 40 in-country trainees who will be facilitated to enroll in certified professional research and grant administration programs.
During the training session
It is in this regard that the first in country workshop organized by the Directorate of Research, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Rwanda and Albert Einstein College of Medicine was held from 13-17 Nov 2017 with the following objectives:
Identify and develop human resource capacity in research administration and grants management for faculty and staff of University of Rwanda and research partner institutions in Rwanda
Develop and deliver a competency-based curriculum for faculty and staff who are interested in enhancing their competency and skills in research administration and grants management
Facilitate advanced training in Research and Grants Administration through the National Council of University Research Administrators online and short-term training courses leading to the certification in research administration.

Dhanonjoy C. Saha, DVM, MS PhD. Director of the Office of Grant Support and Research Associate Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Saha held many positions in research administration and operations. He was Director of Research Information and Development at New York Medical College.
Stefan Jansen, PhD- Stefan Jansen, PhD is Research Coordinator at the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Studies and Acting Deputy Director at the Center for Mental Health at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Rwanda.
Dr Brenda Asiimwe-Kateera MD, MPH is a public health physician and Epidemiologist. She is currently the Country Director for AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Rwanda and engaged in research and research administration capacity strengthening activities at University of Rwanda, College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
