The University of Rwanda in collaboration with Kassel University (Germany) organized a 3-day workshop of East African network of Learning Administrators (EANLA). The workshop brought together researchers and financial administration from different Universities in East Africa to discuss on the management of third party funds especially research funds.

The workshop was attended by around 35 persons from 17 Universities and Higher Learning Institutions both private and public from 6 different countries (Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Germany).
With the support of DAAD (Germany Academic Exchange Service), participants discussed on the best practices as far as external funds are concerned. The discussion started on how to access more external funds, how to manage properly and reporting requirements in general.
The best practices in EAC are compared to those of EU in regards to management of the third party funds in general and research particularly.
During the workshop, the High Commissioner of the republic of Kenya, H.E John Mwangemi, joined the team and commended the great work being done by researchers from Universities.

At the end of the workshop, participants were committed to the improvement of the way of managing the donors’ funds as well as promoting the exchange of best practices through the network. Moreover, represented countries elected representative of their respective chapters in the network.
