Freshers at UR-CE urged to embrace positive attitude in induction week closing ceremony

New students at the University of Rwanda College of Education (UR-CE) completed their induction week in a ceremony that attracted local Government and University officials.

In his welcoming remarks, Prof. George Njoroge, the UR-CE Principal lauded students endeavor to commit for performance contracts. He encouraged them to achieve their set goals and assured them support from the College.

Njoroge noted that the College’s responsibility is to ensure that students have a holistic development that includes their intellectual, physical, moral and spiritual aspects not only because they are students but also human beings.  

 “As youth, the country looks forward to you in ensuring that we give you an education that is fit-for-purpose not only for the fulfillment as an individual but also to take the country forward,” he said.    

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Phillip Cotton the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Rwanda, congratulated students for their choice to join the University of Rwanda. He also appreciated their option to pursue education which is a pillar for the country’s development.

“You are lucky to have chosen one of the best universities in the region”, he stated, adding that students should work hard to prove to Rwandans and beyond that they are the best.

In her speech Thacienne Bampire the representative of the National Itorero Commission, briefed participants on the historical background and the mission of her institution in general and in education sector in particular. She praised the College community for the importance allocated to the event.

Also present was Jean Claude Murenzi, the Mayor of Kayonza District. He asked students to preserve the university’s excellence by demonstrating positive behavior and hard work. He commended students for contract they signed and encouraged them to achieve it as pledged.
