The University of Rwanda in collaboration with French Belgium Universities has funding from ARES-CCD (Académie de Recherche et d’Enseignement Supérieur), for raising human capacity in the area of life sciences, including areas related to natural sciences, biology, chemistry, agriculture and medicine. The UR-ARES collaboration is divided into four achievable results, and we are calling applicants in Result No. 2 that aims at enhancing the quality of education for the academics and technicians of the University of Rwanda.

Targeted audience and procedures

The Laboratory technicians in the above targeted areas and employed in three following colleges: CST, CAVM, and CMHS. We will select one best applicant from each of these colleges. Selected applicants will earn a training of 2 months in any Belgium French university in 2017.

Application file

Application file will detail the training needed and must describe the specific training that is needed, and how it strengthens the daily profession/activities of the applicant and how it goes in line with their employment units. The area of analytical equipments is the most suggested for training (training on analytical equipment that is available in your laboratory unity but none of the staff in your unit has that skills) or any needed analytical technique for your laboratory unit, or research unit. 

Application file will contain the following documents: (i) application letter explaining the motivation and specifying the type of training needed; (ii) recommendation letter from the direct supervisors: Dean, HoD or Head of laboratory if your laboratory is not directly linked to an academic department in UR; (iii) Appointment letter; Full time employees have priority to staff under contracts; and (iv) CV; and If you have any contact laboratory in Belgium where you can perform your training, please provide supporting documents (invitation letter).

Priority audience

We will give priority to that who have never been supported by this fund in 2014, 2015, 1nd 2016.

The deadline for application is fixed on 17th March 2017 at 18h00.
